Wood Wood Wood – Nothing’s ever good untersucht die Geschichte des Białowieża-Waldes an der Grenze zwischen Polen und Belarus. Der Wald ist, was wir in ihm sehen wollen: romantisches Idyll, Zufluchtsort – aber auch ein Ort von Widerstand und extremer Gewalt. Die Performer*innen folgen diesen Spuren und berichten von dem Schicksal der Juden*Jüdinnen und Partisan*innen während der deutschen Besatzung, von der Jagd auf Tier und Mensch sowie von der aktuellen Situation an dieser EU-Außengrenze. Die deutsch-polnische Produktion erschafft ein szenisch-akustisches Archiv, das von der Gewaltgeschichte dieser „Bloodlands“ und dem Wald als Rückzugsraum für Pflanzen, Tiere und Menschen erzählt. Und mittendrin: ein DJ an seinem Pult, beschäftigt damit, Vergangenheiten und Gegenwarten zu loopen. The forest becomes what we choose to see in it: a romantic idyll, a place of refuge – but also a site of resistance and extreme violence. The performers follow these traces and recount the fate of Jews and partisans during the German occupation, the hunting of both animals and humans, as well as the current situation at this EU external border. This German-Polish production creates a performative acoustic archive that speaks of the history of violence in these “Bloodlands” and of the forest as a refuge for plants, animals, and people.
